Happy New Year

The layover in Miami, the 2 hour van ride at night in pouring rain through the jungle... the 30 minute boat ride with rain spitting in our faces while glancing back at our captains silhouette against black seas....Holbox was worth it. Making our way through the sand streets by golf cart to our hotel...this place is not for the "all inclusive" mentality. We awake to clear skies and 80 degree weather, a breakfast of Mexican eggs and black beans, and of coarse a strong cup of coffee.... walking through the town, there is an immediate notice that everyone here is happy... at peace.... I mean the locals, and the tourists. The very few tourist we see, seem to feel as we do, a nice smile and no need to continue the encounter any further. However, we did happen to come upon two wonderful people the very minute we arrived in Cancun. They were on our same van to the island. It seamed they spoke the same as us, Marianne mentioned,"we don't have a television". After our conversation on the van, it hit me that most people that come to this island are the same as we.... people who need a break from reality, who need to put things in perspective outside of their crazy lives . Exploring the island was an every day occurrence. " A Three island tour" took us to a natural river spring that I still have no idea how it works, but it makes for a beautiful swimming hole... another stop at an island home to many birds that mate.. and so on..... a run in with our friends from the van spots our Christmas Eve dining plans... Lobster, fish, shrimp, all caught daily.... After another run in with our friends, we realize it is meant to be, which many cocktails and conversations about how we can fix the World follow....Every night, the music is pumping until 3 am ... at least! The food, the friendliness, the beauty, will make this a spot for us to come back to some day. Any place that makes you say " I could live here! Over here! Right here on this plot!" is a place anyone should go..... and "thank you Mark and Cathy"who introduced me to this place
