Sand Dollar Necklaces

The first time my boyfriend and I went to Jekyll Island, there was an amazing thunder storm the night we arrived. We sat on the balcony and watched lightening over the ocean for hours... The next morning we went for a walk on the beach and found so many sand dollars! We made sure to throw all of the live dollars back in hopes that they might make it. We still ended up with about 25 sand dollars! I thought it would be so cool to make necklaces out of them. So I cleaned them up (I didn't bleach them because their natural color is so beautiful) and put a few coats of Varnish on them to preserve them. The sand dollar has a natural hole that hemp twine fits perfectly through. Then I added the clasps and beads. I will be starting my Etsy shop as soon as they are all completed!

Morning Inspiration

This is one of my most favorite songs to start my day with. Slowdive is no longer around, but they have some great albums out there!

Thriftin

I love old Pyrex dishes, but I hate the prices at antique stores! These were a great find at my local Last Chance thrift store for so cheap

Jekyll Island

Being on Jekyll Island is like taking a step back in time, and we love the fact that there are no high rise hotels, or overpopulated beaches.... Some hotels allow dogs, so my dog got to experiance the beach for the first time! you can check out more photos on my flickr
