Atlanta Motel Shoot



A couple of weeks ago, I did a photo shoot with Jill Veysey, an amazing graphic designer and dear friend of mine, at the Atlanta Motel. I have driven past there so many times and always wondered what exactly goes on there, what kind of people stay there, what sort of story each room could tell. I arrived at 12pm on a rainy day, thinking that we would have to cancel due to weather. I see two cop cars, and to two coroner's vans. The van pulls up to one of the rooms, and pulls out a dead body, covered, on a gurney. One of the owners of the hotel comes outside, and I ask him what happened. He says "I don't know, they never tell us." So, obviously, this isn't a rare occurrence here. So, I asked if I could get a room, and told him we were hoping to shoot there. Which he lets us do, "as long is there is no nudity". The room was exactly what I hoped. Desolate, muted colors, a feeling of emptiness. And so we began...
